Junkpile ADHD Notifier is a free Windows tray application designed to make important email easier to notice and act on without turning every message into an alarm.

## Important note about Companion
Version 1.0 uses local rules and the information already available from the message to explain why an item may matter and to prepare a simple draft. It does not connect to an external AI service and never sends email automatically.
## Requirements
– Windows 10 or Windows 11
– .NET 8 Desktop Runtime when using a framework-dependent build
– Visual Studio with **Desktop development with .NET** to build from source
– Classic Outlook for Outlook/COM monitoring
– Optional: IMAP mail account(s)
– Optional: compatible Dovado gateway for SMS
> Microsoft New Outlook does not expose the same COM automation used by the Classic Outlook provider. IMAP can still be used for supported accounts.
## Build
Open `AttentionBell.sln` in Visual Studio, restore NuGet packages and choose **Build > Rebuild Solution**.
For a self-contained x64 publish, run `build-release.cmd`. The script publishes a single-file Windows build under the normal `bin\Release\…\publish` folder.
## First test
1. Start the program.
2. Right-click **Junkpile ADHD Notifier** in the Windows notification area.
3. Open **Inställningar…** and check your accounts and priorities.
4. Open **Notifierare** and choose Alfred or UFO.
5. Use **Companion – Demo** from the tray menu to test the complete notifier -> Companion flow without displaying private mail.
## Data and privacy
Application data is kept under `%APPDATA%\AttentionBell\` for compatibility with earlier versions. Important files include `settings.json`, `state.json`, Companion state and `sms.log` when SMS is used.
No authority reply or other email is sent automatically. Drafts are for the user to review.
## Notifier packs
The UI and notifier folder are prepared for a later `.jnp` package format. Version 1.0 intentionally ships only the two notifier animations that are fully wired into the live flow: Alfred and UFO.

# Dovado SMS setup – ADHD Mail Notifier v1.2
The SMS feature is optional and disabled by default. It uses the Dovado TCP command interface directly from the Windows PC.
## Configure
Open **Settings** from the tray icon and fill in:
1. **Gateway/IP** – IP address or host name of the Dovado router/gateway.
2. **Port** – normally `6435`.
3. **API user** – the Dovado API/login user.
4. **API password** – stored encrypted for the current Windows user.
5. **SMS number** – recipient number, preferably in international format, for example `+46…`.
6. Select whether SMS should be sent for **important mail**, **calendar events**, or both.
7. Click **Skicka test-SMS** before enabling SMS notifications.
8. Enable **Aktivera SMS-notifiering** and save.
## Network requirement
The PC running ADHD Mail Notifier must be able to reach the Dovado gateway on the configured TCP port. If the gateway is on a private LAN address, the notifier must be on that LAN or connected through a suitable private network/VPN.
Do not expose the Dovado command port directly to the public Internet.
## Security
No gateway password is included in the public source. The password entered in Settings is encrypted with Windows DPAPI and can normally only be decrypted by the same Windows user account on the same Windows installation.
If you publish source code, examples, screenshots or configuration files, remove all real router credentials, phone numbers, HMAC secrets and other private values first.
## SMS content
For important mail the SMS contains a short sender/subject notification. For calendar events it contains the event title and approximate time. Full email bodies are not sent.
## First run
The first scan can look back up to 72 hours for full-screen alerts, but SMS is deliberately suppressed during this historical first scan. This avoids sending multiple old SMS notifications immediately after installation.
